We strive to provide our customers with a range of design possibilities and limitless potential to fulfil budgets and design schemes. There are many custom capabilities on the contract furniture we can supply, this blog details options available on our seating models.

Upholstery

The role of upholstery can make a significant difference to the visual identity of a chair, stool or sofa. There are endless choices of upholstery styles available on our seating modes including button back, quilted, pleated, fluted or plain. You can also choose a split upholstery option and combine multiple different fabrics, leathers or faux leathers to achieve a desired look. We also offer bespoke upholstery options such as logos or text stitched into fabrics.

Decorative seams

Decorative seams are a type of stitch with the sole purpose of connecting two pieces of material. There are multiple stitch options you can choose for seating models; we have listed some examples below.

  • Top stitched – designed to be seen on the right-hand side of the material, used for decorative purposes or to add strength.
  • Double top stitched – stitch is sewn on either side of a plain seam, gives upholstery extra strength and control. You can use contrasting colours to make a feature.
  • Zigzag stitched – sturdier than straight stitches and idea for designs that need to be held tight. Used as a seam finish for reinforcement or over the top of a plain seam in a contrasting colour for a decorative pattern.
  • Piped seam – fabric covered cord sewn into a plain seam to create a ‘pipe’. Can be used to highlight distinctive seam lines or to define the shape of a design.

End caps

End caps (also known as slipper cups) can provide a stylish finish to your furniture legs. Typically made from metal, end caps fit securely over both wood and metal legs to offer a sleek design. Available in finishes including brass, chrome, gold, bronze and rose gold.

Studding

Metallic studs are primarily used around the edges of seats as a decoration for luxurious furniture, evoking a sense of opulence and allure. There are numerous types with different designs, shapes and finishes, each suited to different decor and furniture styles.

Decorative handles

Decorative handles (also known as chair-back pulls) are a simple, cost-effective way to add a high-end design feel to your decor. Common on upholstered dining chairs and armchairs, there are various styles and options available including leather handles with rivets in brass, chrome, gold or black finishes.

Size customisation

Selected manufacturing partners can offer great flexibility on customizing seat heights for chairs, stools and sofas. This is ideal if you are working on a bespoke project with a specific size that no standard model can offer.

Custom-made seating

The option to add additional foam layers to seats (including memory foam) to provide extra comfort is available on selected seating models. For the healthcare sector, lounge and dining models can be supplied with firm or soft seats with removable seat panels.

Finishes

If you require a bespoke finish to match a custom wood stain or bespoke RAL colour to match your branding, our manufacturers can accommodate this.

Additional finishing touches can include the option to add wheels/castors, different glides depending on floor type, plinths and decorative cushions. Minimum order quantity may apply for furniture with customisation options.
